Project 4 - Watercolors

Spiky and Brittle Soft and Pliable Creepy and Sinister Dramatic and Flamboyant For me this project was really challenging at first. I wasn't exactly sure where to start or what object to choose. I finally ended up choosing to use an image of a flower for my inspiration. While usually flowers are bright and cheery it was interesting to take different approaches to them. For the Spiky/Brittle and the Creepy/Sinister I wanted to use black and grays to really capture those feelings. I was picturing a dead flower when creating these, however I especially like the Creepy/Sinister one and I think it turned out rather pretty. The Soft/Pliable one was more of what I picture an actual flower to be: pink, pretty, lively. It was fairly easy to do as I just took the pinks and purples and mixed them around to make it look like a real flower. As for the Dramatic/Flamboyant, I wasn't really sure where to start, but I ended up choosing 3 prominent colo...

Final - Haiku

"Inside everyone, the infinite traveler longs to be set free." -William C. Hannan For my haiku selection I chose one involving nature and travel. Recently I finally got to go abroad to London and Ireland and before this the traveler in me was really longing to be set free. Having never left the country, this trip was a great one of seeing new sites and exposing myself to different parts of the world. Now after this trip, the traveler in me longs even more to be set free and to see new parts of the world. With that being said, I chose 3 of my favorite photos that I took during my trip to Europe. The first of a castle in Dublin, the second of me walking across Abbey Road, and the third of Trinity College. For this project, I wanted to take these images of real life places and make them look almost like a "cartoon". Project 4 - Shorthand Tone

For this project I chose to use images that I found off the internet. I chose profiles of all women because I wanted to show the various ways women can look. This particular style is definitely not my favorite, I find it kind of difficult to execute, but I of course liked putting it back into digital form. I chose to keep with the short strokes for the digital interpretations, but to obviously add color within it as well. I wanted to use a black background to make it look a little more vibrant and also more of a neon sort of look. I think by using the black background it makes everything pop more and draws your eyes to the different parts. I especially like how my hair comes out on the dark back. For me personally, I find that this method makes everything look a little off. It is probably not my preferred way of executing illustrations, I think I definitely prefer traditional smooth lines.
